How do I clean hardwood floors?With a dry mop or by vacuuming them, this will get rid of surface dirt. Or you can buff the floors with a cloth. Give it a wet cleaning with Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner. Avoid using water, vinegar and soap-based cleaners or wax or steam because this could damage the floors.

What's the difference between solid wood and engineered wood flooring?Solid hardwood floors are just strips or planks of wood that are solid top to bottom. Engineered hardwood floors are available in strips and planks are made by laminating three to five layers of hardwood to one another in a cross-banded manner. The top layer is a premium hardwood.

How do I decide between a Pre-finished and Unfinished hardwood floor??Most floors installed are of the pre-finished variety. Pre-finished floors have nine layers of UV-cured acrylic urethane, including aluminum oxide in both base coats for added wear protection.

Should I expect color variations in my hardwood floor over time?Yes, over time, wood changes color, typically darkening. Some woods change more than others. This is natural and part of the charm of real wood. To make sure your wood floors age uniformly and gracefully -- move your furniture, area rugs and mats around from time to time.

Can I use a steam cleaner on my hardwood floors?No, a steam will damage the product because steam from the mop pushes water down onto the floor which can cause the finish to bubble up when water gets underneath the finish. Thus, possibly voiding your warranty on the flooring.

How does moisture affect my hardwood floors?Moisture that is excessive can definitely cause changes to your floors, such as buckling, cracking or cupping.

How dusty will my home be once the flooring installation is complete?We do our best to minimize the amount of dust in the houses where we do work. So, we will hang protective plastic over your furniture and around the general areas in the vicinity to keep the dust contained as much as possible.

Will I need to leave the house while the work is being performed.In certain cases, yes, especially when fthe staircase is being done and while the steps are still wet from the application of polyurethane finish. Or you can stay upstairs or downstairs during the installation process.

What if I have already purchased the flooring materials, will you install it for me?"Absolutely, because our company specializes in flooring installations, and will only bill you for the actual cost of labor. However, if requested, we can assist our customers by bringing samples to the home to show what options are available in flooring or backsplash.

How can I protect my floors from being damaged over time?By putting felt pads on the bottom of the legs of your furniture, or place runners or thin rugs over specific areas.

Can pet urine ruin my hardwood floors?Unfortunately, yes dog or cat urine can cause damage to the hardwood, but cleaning them quickly and properly may help.

Does your company offer a warranty on the work performed?Yes, we offer a one year warranty on workmanship, and the manufacturer warranty will cover the flooring materials.
